Calderwood Dental Practice in East Kilbride is set to increase the size of its team and treatment offering after receiving significant funding support from Barclays.
Barclays is funding the acquisition of the practice by one of its existing dentists, Alexandra Young, allowing the business to capitalise on growing demand in the area. Ms Young has worked at Calderwood Dental for the last nine years and when its current owners decided to sell, she was given the chance to purchase it.
She has ambitious expansion plans including refurbishment of the practice and the hiring of an additional dentist and dental nurse.
Calderwood Dental Practice has been established for 27 years and the new owner aims to use the funding received from Barclays to invest in its offering and increase its customer base further.
Barclays Business Banking has seen the number and value of loans to the UK dentistry industry almost double in the last two years, as dentists race to expand premises and invest in new technology to keep up with consumer demand.
Alexandra Young, associate at Calderwood Dental Practice, said, “I am really looking forward to seeing what the future holds for Calderwood Dental Practice as I set about realising my ambitions for the business. The support I have received from the Barclays’ team has been invaluable in helping me to take my plans for the practice forward.”
Stuart Brown, head of SME Scotland at Barclays, said, “The future is looking bright for Calderwood Dental Practice and we’re pleased to have supported the new owner with her purchase of the business and investment plans for expansion.
“Our relationship director, Michael Barclay, has worked closely with Ms Young and provided support every step of the way, identifying the best way to help her achieve her business aims.”
